The iPhone touch interface is generally very forgiving. I learned a long time ago, when typing, to just Trust the iPhone™, and it will do the right thing (most of the time).
I listen to a lot of podcasts. The touch interface really falls down, here. Why? Because the “go back to start of track” button is immediately next to the “play/pause” button. Particularly annoying because there’s no way to undo an accidental rewind without shuttling, and it’s difficult to shuttle back to the position you were at if you don’t know the time at which you were previously listening.
